For aluminum extrusion, aluminum forging, copper extrusion and heating of copper and aluminum bars, we have developed an innovative method in cooperation with the University of Padova: the aluminum billet is heated while clamped in a rotating system of permanent magnets. Without water cooling, it is about 30% more efficient than traditional induction heaters. The concept of this technology is to rotate the permanent magnets surrounding the billet. The heater is designed through electromagnetic and thermal finite element analysis.
